Beginner August Homeschool Hand Building

Service Description

This class is for the Homeschool student WITH NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE. Any questions, please call. Youth ages 7-17 are welcome to join Artist & Instructor Cathleen Sullivan in a relaxed learning environment moving through hand-building projects with clay. Cathleen and the studio are Step Up Certified to teach Homeschoolers. Place your deposit through our website and then pay in person the balance. We provide you with an invoice with all the pertinent information needed for reimbursement. Parents are welcome to attend the class with their child for the same tuition. Parents are welcome to drop off their child(ren) or remain in the front-end gallery only. Kindly refrain from roaming the studio as members are working or other classes are being taught. While experienced working with special needs children, I am not certified special ed instructor. All children are welcome. If your child has behavioral issues or anything that may interfere with my teaching or their learning, a parent/guardian must remain to shadow the child. My priority is to ensure every student gets the attention they deserve, learn the skills needed to create and then enjoy creative freedom. Participants will create various projects from clay using hand building techniques. Each 1.5-hour session will be guided for any child looking to try creating with clay. Students are guided through 3 projects during the first 3 classes, and they are off to allow for work to come through the kiln and then they return to glaze all projects created the first 3 weeks. After the glaze class, guardians are notified when work is ready for pick up, or you may contact the studio at any time for the status update. For those students interested in wheel classes, they are accepted into our adult 6-week wheel classes. Please call the studio for details. Youth/Homeschoolers must be of large enough stature and maturity and have the attention span for a 3-hour class. A waiver must be signed, and the student must go through a safety course. Call studio to discuss with owner Cathleen before registering any youth in wheel classes.
