Coil Building Abstract Vases

Service Description

This workshop will consist of one three-hour session. Learn how to stack & control coils for free form body styles in vessels. Join Artist & Instructor Zoey Alyssa for a coil building class. Participants will be guided step by step in creating their own coil-built vessel. This vessel, vase or pot will be crafted by stacking various coil types. Layering the coils in certain patterns can determine the piece’s function and style. All participants will either construct a planter pot, jug or vase. Learning and mastering coil building can open up many free-forming possibilities. Once constructed your piece will be bisque fired. Hand building basics, rolling coils from clay, and vessel characteristics will be discussed and explored. All necessary materials will be provided, however, bring an old hand towel, hand-building tools, and a beverage. Clay, bisque fire and glaze and glaze firing included. Students return in approximately 3 weeks to pick up their completed work. Students will be notified when work is ready for pick up, or you may contact the studio at anytime for the status of your piece. Cancellation policy: Cancellations receive a 50% refund or postponement to a later class, if cancelled 48 hours prior to the beginning of the first class. Sometimes things do break in the kiln, however, staff make every effort to guide students for a successful build.
