Gelli Plate Printing – 6-Week Immersion

Service Description

Discover the vibrant world of Gelli plate printmaking in this 18-hour guided course. Learn to build rich, layered prints; explore color, transparency, and design; and create a cohesive body of work through playful yet intentional techniques. Course Features • Layer-by-layer printing and intuitive composition • Ghost pulls, masking, stencils, and texture tools • Color theory for stronger prints and mixed-media work • Free use of all studio acrylic paints • Curated specialty paper pack for sampling before investing in your own: tea bag paper, wet-strength tissue, rice paper, medical exam paper, deli paper, onion skin, and additional surfaces ideal for printmaking and collage. After the first-class students must bring in their printing paper of choice. Gelli Plate Requirement Students must purchase a Gelli Plate® brand printing plate, with the 9" × 12" size recommended ($33.91 at Dick Blick). Plates may be purchased through the studio at signup (to help you save on shipping) or sourced independently. Once registered, please notify us if you would like the studio to purchase your plate for you. Materials & Supplies A full supply list will be provided upon registration. Most materials are included in the course fee, with the exception of the Gelli Plate® itself and any additional specialty papers of your choice to print with. You’ll receive enough papers to begin during the first class, giving you the opportunity to experiment and discover which surfaces best suit your printing style so you can purchase what you need. Studio acrylic paints will be available for your use throughout the entire 6-week session, and all stencils, masks, and texture tools are provided.
