Ceramic Gingerbread House Workshop Four-Part Hand-Building Workshop with Master Artist Jimena Roman Wed. Aug. 12; Fri. Aug. 14; Mon. Aug. 17; & Wed. Aug. 19th Create a one-of-a-kind ceramic house during this immersive four-part hand-building workshop led by Master Potter Jimena Roman. Students will use templates to construct their houses from clay, learning essential hand-building techniques such as rolling slabs, adding texture with specialty mats and tools, and securely joining the walls through proper slipping and scoring. Jimena will guide students through the construction and creative process as they design and decorate every detail of their unique ceramic house. Choose a traditional Christmas gingerbread house adorned with candy canes, wreaths, snowflakes, and holiday treats—or take the project in an entirely different direction! Create a spooky Halloween house covered with spiders, witches, ghosts, pumpkins, and other eerie embellishments. Students are also welcome to develop an original theme inspired by their own imagination. Students may select their preferred clay color and will have access to underglazes to paint their houses and handmade decorations. Staff will apply a clear glaze and complete the final firing after the workshop. $25 Material fee collected the first day of class to cover clay, underglazes, glazing, and firing.
