Afternoon 4-Week Hand-building with Cathleen

Service Description

Allow Cathleen, owner of Treasure Coast Pottery, to guide you through a fun and creative 4-week Handbuilding Class designed to give you the skills and confidence to work independently in the studio. Through project-based instruction, students will learn essential hand building techniques including slab construction, coil building, use of the slab roller, surface decoration, texture on clay, and glazing. Projects will include both functional and decorative work, with plenty of room to add your own creative style. Whether you are brand new to clay or already have some experience, this class will introduce new techniques and help you develop ideas into finished pieces you can use, display, or give as gifts. Have a project idea of your own? Cathleen can help you bring it to life. First two classes are foundational and the next two can be project oriented. Classes meet Thursdays, October 29 and November 5, 12, and 19 from 12–3 PM. An associated Open Studio will be held Mondays from 12–3 PM, giving students an additional 12 hours of studio time to practice techniques and complete their work. The final Open Studio can be either November 23 or November 30, as determined by class consensus. Includes 12 hours of instruction + 12 hours of Open Studio time. Students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of Open Studio so projects can be completed and ready for glazing by the final class. Please read the cancellation policy before booking.
