Ages 9–17 | Beginner Wheel Pottery for Homeschoolers with Cathleen & Larkyn Ready to take the next step in pottery? Homeschool Wheel Foundations introduces students to the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel, including centering, opening, pulling walls, shaping, trimming, and preparing work for glazing. Prerequisite: Students must complete a TCP Homeschool Hand-Building class before enrolling or receive studio approval. Each student works at their own pottery wheel with hands-on instruction in a fun, supportive environment. Wheel throwing takes practice, patience, and a willingness to get a little messy! Class Structure Monday/Wednesday 3 two-hour wheel-throwing sessions — 6 hours 1 two-hour glazing session — 2 hours 3 one-hour instructional trimming sessions — included at no additional charge Wheel Throwing: Mondays, November 2, 9 & 16 | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM Please allow approximately 20 additional minutes for cleanup. Instructional Trimming Sessions Wednesdays, November 4, 11 & 18 | 11:00 AM–12:00 PM Students will learn how to trim, refine, and finish their wheel-thrown pieces during these required instructional sessions which are included at no additional charge. Final Glazing Session Monday, November 30 | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM What to Bring Please come prepared for the wheel: wear comfortable clothes that can get messy, tie back long hair, keep fingernails trimmed short, and bring a lap towel. Tuition Program Tuition: $360 Tuition includes 8 hours of instructor-led pottery instruction, plus three required 1-hour instructional trimming sessions at no additional charge. Clay, glazes, bisque firing, and glaze firing are all included. Step Up For Students Registration Step Up For Students funding is accepted for this program. Families using Step Up funding should register directly through the EMA portal by selecting: Four (4) Homeschool Pottery Instruction sessions at $90 each 4 sessions × $90 = $360 total program tuition Once all four $90 sessions have been selected through your EMA account, your student's registration for Homeschool Wheel Foundations will be complete.
