Service Description

Ages 9–17 | Beginner Wheel Pottery for Homeschoolers with Cathleen & Larkyn Ready to take the next step in pottery? Our Homeschool Wheel Foundations class introduces students to the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel, including centering, opening, pulling walls, shaping, trimming, and preparing their work for glazing. Prerequisite: Students complete a TCP Homeschool Hand-building class before enrolling or receive studio approval. Each student works at their own pottery wheel with hands-on instruction in a fun, supportive environment. Wheel throwing takes practice, patience, and a willingness to get a little messy! Class Structure 3 two-hour wheel-throwing sessions — 6 hours 1 two-hour glazing session — 2 hours 3 one-hour supervised Open Studio trimming sessions — included at no additional charge Wheel Throwing Mondays, November 2, 9 & 16 | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM Please allow approximately 20 additional minutes for cleanup. Open Studio Trimming — required to complete work Wednesdays, November 4, 11 & 18 | 11:00 AM–12:00 PM Included at no additional charge. Glazing Session Monday, November 30 | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM Please come prepared for the wheel: wear comfortable clothes that can get messy, tie back long hair, keep fingernails trimmed short, and bring a lap towel. Step Up For Students funding is accepted for this program. Program Tuition: $360 Tuition includes 8 hours of instructor-led pottery instruction, plus three required 1-hour Open Studio trimming sessions at no additional charge. Clay, glazes, bisque firing, and glaze firing are all included. To reserve your student's place, please email Treasure Coast Pottery with your student's name and interest in Homeschool Wheel Foundations. We are currently adding a new 2-hour Homeschool Pottery Instruction service ($90) to our Step Up For Students provider portal. Once it becomes available, registered families will receive simple instructions for reserving the four 2-hour instructional sessions through their EMA account.
