Summer 6-Week Hand-building w/Cathleen

Service Description

Join us for a dynamic and creative six-week hand-building pottery course. Cathleen brings over 20 years of clay experience and will guide students through a thoughtfully designed curriculum filled with techniques, demonstrations, and hands-on instruction to help build confidence and skill in hand-building pottery. A notebook is highly recommended, especially for students who would like to keep track of techniques, processes, and project steps as their skills develop. Homeschool youth ages 13+ are welcome, as Treasure Coast Pottery is Step Up certified and they are reimbursed for clay and tuition through the Step-Up program directly. This course is perfect for both beginners and experienced potters interested in structured, project-oriented learning. The class begins with foundational forms such as pinch pots and progresses through horizontal and vertical construction techniques, leading into more advanced and skill-building projects with the first three projects designed as guided exercises that establish core clay-building skills and build confidence for more independent work. Class Details Duration: 6 weeks Instruction Time: 3 hours per week (18 instructional hours total) Open Studio Access: Thursdays from 12:00–3:00 PM (18 additional studio hours total) Our fully equipped studio includes a wide variety of molds, texture mats, and specialty tools to support your creative process. No tools are required to participate; all communal studio tools are provided. Materials Clay must be purchased from the studio and includes access to studio dipping glazes and two kiln firings for pieces up to 12 inches in size. A minimum number of students is required for the course to run. In the event of cancellation due to low enrollment, students will receive a full refund or be offered a rescheduled session.
