FEMALE TORSO A Hands-On Clay Sculpture Workshop Instructor: Jimena Román Saturday & Sunday, September 26–27 10:00 AM–3:00 PM each day Includes a break for lunch Discover the art of sculpting the human figure during this immersive, eight-hour weekend workshop. Under Jimena Román’s step-by-step guidance, you will learn how to build and model a female torso in clay while developing a basic understanding of proportion, anatomy, form, and sculptural techniques. Over the course of two days, you will create your own female torso sculpture measuring approximately 10 × 5 × 5 inches. The second day will focus on refining the form, adding definition, and polishing the surface in preparation for firing. No previous sculpture experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome! Tuition: $250 Clay and bisque firing included for pieces up to 10 inches. Polishing or glazing will be discussed and a return to the studio is scheduled for Saturday, October 17th at 11 am to dip your work in the studio dipping glaze if that is the finishing method you choose and is included. Students wishing to stain/paint and polish their work are to return on October 17th at 12 pm for an additional lesson with an associated $25 lesson and materials fee. After the workshop, your sculpture will be carefully dried and bisque-fired. We will notify you when your finished artwork is ready to take home.
